FAST SB Ford Steel Distributor Gear
FAST and Comp Cams offer a variety of precision machined, steel distributor gears for the small block Ford people using billet steel roller camshafts. These steel distributor gears feature a modern heat treating and manufacturing process that makes them compatible with all steel camshaft cores made of either induction hardened or carburized steel. Neither of these materials is compatible with the stock cast iron distributor gears. In the past, bronze distributor gears were used, but for street applications, the bronze gears wear at an excessive rate and have to be replaced on a regular basis. FAST now makes it possible to use a steel distributor gear that provides an OEM style lifespan without damaging the cam.
