This adjustable push rod tool is a necessity to be sure.

How to check for the correct length push rod:
This method requires the use of the COMP Cams® Hi-Tech™ push rod length checker. These length checkers are marked with a standard length stamped in them. This number represents the gauge length of the part (.140" gauge diameter) with the two halves screwed completely together.
Extending the push rod checker one rotation lengthens the gauge length .050". For example, a push rod stamped 7.800" and screwed apart one rotation would be 7.800" + .050" = 7.850" gauge length.
Once you have your rocker geometry correct, you would order the correct size that matches this gauge length. Push rods can be ordered in the valvetrain section of the site. Custom lengths and wall thicknesses not in stock are usually a few days to make up and ship out.
