Morel Street Performance Hydraulic Roller Lifters - (Pontiac)

Swapping your true Pontiac engine to a modern hydraulic roller camshaft and lifters offers a long list of important benefits over old school flat tappet cams. No cam lobe and flat tappet lifter break-in worries. Excellent reliability with modern roller lifter technology. Top notch performance for the Poncho engine without expensive block machining.

Morel's "Street Performance" series hydraulic roller lifters are very reasonably priced thanks to modern "Cold Casting Technology" and offer exceptional durability and performance for the true Pontiac engine with a maximum operating range of 6200-6500 RPM. *

Shorter than factory length push rods required - length and lifter pre-load must be checked.

These Pontiac link-bar style roller lifters may require an aftermarket valley pan. May hit many factory valley pans.

CAMSHAFT NOTES:

All Pontiac V8 have the same size cam main bearings 1.899” diameter.

Stock flat tappet camshafts have a base circle of 1.385” diameter.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

To use a stock block and use the Morel street lifter #5884 there are certain item to check:

1) Lifter bore diameter not to exceed .8440" with not more than .0002” taper.

2) The smallest base circle for a hydraulic camshaft is 1.180” with .360” lobe lift.

3) Solid roller base circle core can go down to 1.100" to obtain .700” lift with 1.65 ratio rocker arm.

4) With a hydraulic with 1.180" base circle you will be required to grind the oil hole outlet.

The oil feed hole in the lifter bore tipped down .150” down towards the bottom of the engine. This will allow the oil hole in the block to match oil feed hole in the lifter. This is important because the hydraulic is refilled when it is on the base circle. If it cannot get oil while on the base circle the lifter will not work properly.

Another option to put in a bushing sleeve . We have worked with CHE Precision (800-499-8885) for the correct bushing PN-1002-842-165f for proper oiling and lifter to bore clearance.
